Damon Hemmerdinger joined the firm in January 2001, having served for over two years as Director of Real Estate Development for the New London Development Corporation (NLDC). While at NLDC, Mr. Hemmerdinger coordinated the pre-leasing of anchor tenants, including Barnes & Noble Campus Bookstores and Crown Theaters, and was responsible for preparing market and financial feasibility studies for a multi-level center city mixed-use entertainment development on the New London waterfront.
In addition, he negotiated the development agreement between the non-profit landowner; Corcoran Jennison, the project developer; Pfizer, Inc., a user and investor; the State of Connecticut; and the City of New London. The agreement included a design review process imposed on the developer by the agency. Mr. Hemmerdinger also secured two federal earmarks totaling $2.1 million and more than $750,000 in private fundraising; and designed, funded, and established HouseNewLondon, an innovative program to develop home ownership housing on a target-block.
Mr. Hemmerdinger graduated from Yale Law School in 1998 and is a member of the bar in New York and Connecticut. He was recently appointed to the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation’s Development Advisory Council.
